Born in Oregon, artist Sage Vaughn lives in Los Angeles, California. His works propose a heavy dichotomy of beauty, violence and urban melancholy, packaged in a technicolor, sugary surface. His Wildlives series shows children dressed as Spiderman or with swords amongst scenes of firefighters or run-down, graffitied buildings, whilst another key work, An Overreaction to Beauty, studs a line-up of baseball bats with rusty nails and butterflies. A keen fisherman, Vaughn has collaborated with N.A.S.A on the music video Way Down, featuring RZA, Barbie Hatch and John Frusciante, both co-directing and contributing artwork to the clip.
