God I love the Northwest. The spots are rougher, the people are cooler, the prices for everything are cheaper, and the parks are more plentiful. And I especially love the Northwest in the Fall. Unlike Southern California, the leave changes are apparent, and you get that brisk air that allows you to skate for hours on end without ending up soaked in sweat, out of breath, and sunburned (and yes, believe it or not, Black men like myself can get sunburned). Plus you have the wind to gently remind you Winter is around the corner, and I always find that a motivator to push a good session. Maybe it's because I'm an East coaster? Either way, to me there is nothing better than having a killer sesh with an epic crew in the Fall. So my plan was to round up just that, and hit some Portland cement.

Thankfully we got the blessing from WeSC, and hit the road with The Activist crew, which consisted of Clint Peterson, Tony Manfre, Cooper Wilt, special Stereo guest Tony Karr, and myself (Chris Pastras). I can't tell you how hyped I was to get out with the Activist crew, and skate the city with the best parks the world has to offer.

We flew in late on Tues, and quickly found the secret is to hit the parks long before kids get out of school at 3pm. A no brainer for sure, especially after you've ran over your seventh 11 year old riding a spanking new Blind complete and wearing a helmet. So this meant the key to a fruitful journey, was getting the crew rounded up semi-early in the AM to eat and get in the van. No easy task, but we pulled it off and had some amazing sessions! First stops included Glenhaven and Gabriel Skateparks (some pics attached). Video to follow soon, but in the meantime, please enjoy the stylish photos and screen grabs provided by our master lens man Matt Williams.

And I must say, this was my first trip w. just PURELY skateboarding, and no other work, in a LONG time. No microphones, no catalog deadlines, no sales meetings, just skateboarding and the boys. It's been awhile, so I made a vow to make these type of trips happen much more often, and I promise to provide the world of the interweb with the goods to share in the journeys.

Big thanks WeSC and again, stay tuned for Part Two of the Portland pics and some amazing HD footage....

Peace!

Chris Pastras
