The WeActivist Series for Winter 2010 by Pär Strömberg:
"The owls are not what they seem"
The presence of the landscape in my native Sweden and the wild nature there, is extremely impact. Something very relieving, as well as frightening and intimidating. The beauty and freedom it speaks about, has an ever so under laying threatening side. In my drawings and paintings I try to get closer to ideas of the landscape, to reveal the fears and threats of the ostensibly calm surfaces of it’s beauty. I’m influenced and inspired by mythology and magic, the occult, esoterica and the human relation to nature.
